"There is no where more perfect for a peaceful retreat surrounded by wild nature" Reviewed Apr 6 2023 There is nowhere else quite like this place. If you are looking for somewhere with the best internet connect, the newest TV, and no insects and bees flying around then this isn't for you... but if you are looking for the most peaceful retreat, surrounded by wild nature then there is no where more perfect. I have stayed at Roeburnscar many times and every time I come away feeling so refreshed and balanced that I want to come back straight away. It has now become my sanctuary, and that of all my friends and family that now always come with me. Waking up to the sound of the river and birds in the morning; having lunch and a glass of wine in the sun (I have been very lucky with the weather) on the terrace with my friends; and playing games by the fire in the evening with the whole family, is stuck in my head as one of my happiest memories. I can't thank Jane enough for letting us stay in this place, my family will be coming for generations I am sure of it!
"Nourishing" Reviewed Apr 2023 My stay at Roerburnscar was nourishing and offered much need needed time away from the rush of normal life to reconnect with the seasons and explore the beautiful countryside and woodlands surrounding the cottage, The accommodation is comfortable, well cared for and in tune with the surrounding environment. I cant recommend this gem of a place enough!
"What a magic place" Reveiwed Apr 2023 A wonderful, wild situation among the trees and over the river. The house is unique, comfy and tastefully furnished entirely in keeping with its surroundings. Very atmospheric. All we needed for a family get together and birthday celebration, with woodland walks and cosy evenings. Would definitely recommend. The sort of place fond memories are forged.
"A heavenly hidden spot" Reviewed March 2023 This is is simply one of those rare hidden gems. The location, comfort and hospitality of Roeburnscar are second to none. This cosy home is incredibly beautiful and well appointed. We can't wait to return for longer and soak up again the tranquility of this retreat. You can simply enjoy the view and very local walks or use it as a base to enjoy so many outdoor wonders in this gorgeous part of the country. Thank you Jane for making us all feel so at home and for sharing so much of your local knowledge. We can't wait to return. https://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g672784-d8096783-Reviews-Roeburnscar-Wray_Lancashire_England.html
"Idyllic rural retreat" Reviewed September 2020 This is the most gorgeous spot you could wish to find in the UK. It feels so remote and unspoilt yet is near so many of the great tourist spots like the Lakes, the Dales the Forest of Bowland and lovely coastal spots too. Soaking up the peace and views on the veranda is a privilege and there are lovely local walks and things to do if you just feel like chilling. We just can't wait to visit again as even a week was not long enough to do all the things we had planned in the area. Our host Jane was always attentive and made us feel so welcome in this beautiful comfortable cottage which has everything you need for a homely experience.
"Fabulous!" Reviewed October 2019 Really nice place and thanks to the owners. Lovely setting and very comfortable. Also close to the motorway network but rural.
“Idyllic hideaway for family/friends group” Reviewed 10 Jul 2019 Our third stay at this beautiful location. Quiet, comfortable with amazing opportunities to enjoy the wildlife and surrounding area. Jane , the owner,is very welcoming . Environmental issues are a high priority which are well supported and good to learn more about. The trough of Bowland is so beautiful. Visit the George and Dragon for a delicious meal. Bridge cafe is friendly and a great place to stop. This time we went to Ashton Memorial lovely park with fantastic views. Seen from the M6 deserves its title “TaJ Mahal” of the north.
“Totally relaxing.” Reviewed 22 Apr 2019 A family group of nine, ranging from bus pass to 4 months stayed for five great and all too short days. The cottage was lacking nothing. Really comfortable and very well equipped. We met Jane the owner. What a nice person she is. Hopefully we will return one day. If peace and quiet is what you are seeking, this place is HIGHLY recommended !!
“Gorgeous, cozy, beautiful holiday cottage” Reviewed 15 Dec 2018 Stunning cottage; plenty of space but still manages to be cosy and warm in winter. Everywhere is comfy and pretty, with special touches; lovely views in a gorgeous setting and great for country walks. Handy for local amenities but still secluded. To top it all, Roeburnscar is super eco-friendly. Perfect.
“Friends' reunion in the most perfect, tranquil and beautiful setting” Reviewed 26 Nov 2018 This comfortable, spacious, cosy home is set in beautiful wooded countryside with a river view and is in walking distance of the village with two pubs, shop and café. This is a glorious place for nature-loving groups/families who also like their comfort!
"Wonderful spacious accommodation" Reviewed 26 Aug 2018 Just home from a great holiday at Jane and Rod's secluded spacious cottage. We were made to feel very welcome and enjoyed the home picked plums and apples and other delights left for us. The cottage was very well equipped with some lovely large cooking pans to feed us all. As a family of 9 there was ample space for us all and masses of storage space. The flat proved very useful for our baby granddaughter and her parents. The cottage was very comfortable and despite some inclement weather we were able to sit on the verandah and listen to the river. The cottage is not overlooked. Our grandsons enjoyed playing table tennis in the barn and cycling to the village which has a very nice Bistro and pub plus a village shop. A good time was had by all and the week went by much too quickly unfortunately. Thank you very much to Jane and Rod. https://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g672784-d8096783-Reviews-Roeburnscar-Wray_Lancashire_England.html
“Idyllic hideaway” Reviewed 15 May 2018 Second time of visiting this beautiful place. Fantastic views, comfortable accommodation and great wildlife. A joy to watch a buzzard being mobbed by crows, birds feeding in the back garden. Lots of lovely walks nearby, great village pub and drives across the wonderful trough of Bowland . Great meal at the Fenwick! Definately petfriendly!
“Total Chillout” Reviewed 5 Mar 2018 So they say 15mins soaking up a Woodland atmosphere is all it takes for stress levels to fall and mental clarity to improve. No wonder I love coming here so much. Here, you are surrounded by beautiful ancient woodland. I’ve been to Roeburnscar on many occasions and every visit I’ve loved no matter what time of year. Walks, meals out and things to do seem inexhaustible, there is always something new to discover. And if the weather isn’t perfect, just reading and enjoying the peaceful cosy atmosphere of the property is extremely relaxing. I’m a well travelled person who usually likes a change but somehow I’m always drawn back to beautiful Roeburnscar. Highly recommend it if you want a mix of being active and relaxing. Also great for family gatherings. Jane will give you a very warm welcome!
"Great place to spend Christmas with the family" Reviewed 27 Dec 2017 We decided after many years to book a family Holiday over the Christmas period, A family of 11 ranging from 64 years -18 months in age. My sister in law found Roeburnscar so we decided to book. I wasn't sure how we'd all cope in 1 house for 4 days but we didn't have to worry. The house has a very relaxed feel about it with plenty of room for us all to find some privacy when we needed and the chance to all eat together in the dining room. Brother and Sister in law stayed in the adjoining flat with their 18 month old son so we didn't have to worry about disturbing him with any noise. We were short of nothing. We did take our own food as we didn't want to spend the weekend shopping (Wray does have a well stocked shop) but the house had everything we could have thought of. Jane and Rod pretty much left us to ourselves once we had settled in, pointing out lots of places to walk our dog (also welcome) The only time we saw them was when they came to refuel the wood fired boiler, which kept us all very comfortable. There was wifi so our 15 yer old could stay in touch with friends at home. Would definitely recommend a walk to the George and Dragon, only about 10 minutes away. Very friendly staff with good food and a good selection of ales. We were made to feel very welcome on Christmas day. All in all a really great place just to sit, watch the wildlife go about its business along the river and relax in a really lovely part of the country. https://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g672784-d8096783-Reviews-Roeburnscar-Wray_Lancashire_England.html
“Comfortable and spacious single-storey cottage set in peaceful surrounds” Reviewed 17 Sep 2017 Perfect setting for a long weekend break to catch up with family and escape the hustle and bustle. Easy to find from the M6 with Jane's instructions. A party of 8 in total: 4 adults and 4 children (aged 4 to 9). We walked to Wray every day, walked and cycled through the local woods. Well-equipped kitchen for plenty of cooking and log burners for relaxing evenings. Would go back for longer next time!
“Idyllic and tranquil dog friendly home from home” Reviewed 3 Jan 2017 Couldn't have been more perfect or magical for a getaway with friends. The quirky house is remote and surrounded by serene nature. It was so lovely to wake up only to the sound of the river flowing outside. Lots of space - even for 8 adults and a dog. Particularly loved sitting on the veranda looking at the stars, and our little dog loved going for walks in the surrounding area. Wish we could have stayed forever!
“The most perfect getaway - beautiful!” Reviewed 11 Nov 2016 We booked this holiday home after a very long search for somewhere that could host a large group to celebrate a 30th birthday. From the moment we got in touch with Jane, she was hugely pleasant and made everything very simple for us. Although we were excited about the trip, it wasn't until we saw the house that we realised how very special it is! With its unique setting, quirky lay out and cosy country furnishings I'm very sure that there is nothing else like it around! It is incredibly spacious inside and almost has 'wings' when you book the flat alongside the main house. For a large group of couples (and one single!) it had everything we needed. We arrived as it was getting dark so for everyone to wake up with the stunning views on to the river at the back it was a real treat. Many of us took to going for a stroll each morning - one even went in the river! We also loved that both Jane and Ron are keen to encourage recycling/Eco awareness at the same time as making sure that the house has all the facilities that you need. Thank you SO much for hosting us there. We would love to come back soon and have already recommended it to so many people.
“What a great location” Reviewed 18 Nov 2015 The bungalow was exceptionally spacious, with plenty of room for the eight of us to sit, cook, eat, etc, The location by the river was excellent and the walk along the river or into the village is very pleasant. Being without tv for a weekend was no problem and the children all improved their game playing skill (of the board game type !) Both Jane and Robb were always available to answer questions andpoint us in the right direction. The pub in Wray, the George and Dragon, should not be missed, as the food is very good and the owners are very pleasant.
“Hideaway in a beautiful location” Reviewed 9 Aug 2015 We had a wonderful family celebration at Roeburnscar. It was a 70th birthday and we wanted to invite people from different generations . This lovely dwelling met all needs and we were able to relax in peaceful surroundings, eat and drink together and enjoy beautiful scenery. The surrounding area is varied and we enjoyed the coastal views of Arnside and Silverdale; the splendour of the trough of Bowland and the many pretty villages with welcoming pubs. The owners were very concerned that we had a great time and their friendliness was amazing. Massive commitment to the environment in all aspects of Roeburnscar which is reflected in the beauty of the place.
“Chilled” Reviewed 27 Mar 2015 Had a fantastic 2 night stay here with my wife and her parents. A gorgeous place with stunning scenery as the house is nessled within the forest next to the river roeburn, it feels like your miles from reality. We took in a couple of fantastic walks with our little pooch and also did the 20 minute amble into the village and had a pint in the local and some excellent grub in the tea rooms. Perfect destination for a relaxing weekend sat on the balcony or if you wish done your wellies and get exploring!!
“Perfect family retreat” Reviewed 28 Dec 2014 We were Grandparents from France with children and grandchildren from Warrington and Darlington spending a Christmas weekend together. BPerfect layout for us all with everyone having their own space. beautiful views and setting was magical.
“A beautiful place to stay!” Reviewed 27 Dec 2014 This was a beautiful place to stay while I was helping my mother who lives nearby to pack to move. The sound and views of the rushing stream, being in the forest, and a gorgeous walk every morning before leaving helped reduce the stress of the move. The owner was very helpful when needed and took care of whatever I needed, and the place was spotlessly clean
“Enchanting place” Reviewed 27 Dec 2014 What a lovely place to stay , we were a party of 10 and 2 dogsl, included 2 little ones (aged 4 months old and 2 years) . This place wraps it's arms around you and makes you feel you are a million miles away from any hustle and bustle. We enjoyed a pre christmas family get together with A big christmas dinner and woodland walks. We really loved staying here and I have a feeling we will definitely be returning . The cabin was comfortable , roomy and had bags of character. Loved the Eco element to the place and views to die for
“Fabulous weekend” Reviewed 25 Nov 2014 Just returned from celebrating 3 family birthdays. Accommodation was perfect for our needs with 2 king size rooms, a twin and a single together with 2 bathrooms, 1 with bath and 1 with shower. Large living room with wood burning fire opening onto a porch overlooking the Roeburn river. Separate dining room and a kitchen with lots of crockery and cooking pots too. The wine and biscuits on arrival was also a nice touch. We particularly enjoyed Rod's informative walk on Saturday and enjoyed learning about the trees and the area in general. Every question was answered very fully! We all agred we would definitely stay here again. Thank you Rod and Jane for an excellent weekend.
“Tranquility and comfort in a glorious woodland setting” Reviewed 23 Oct 2014 We were a group of 7 staying in the house (excluding the flat) with ages from 2 to 70 including one person with limited mobility. I agree 100% with the extensive comments posted 18 Feb 14. Only to add that for 2 days I felt no inclination to go anywhere other than to explore on foot the extensive valley of the Roeburn which is under the same ownership as the house. A mixture of mature woodland, rocky crags, lowland meadows and a rushing river which is packed with wildlife including deer, buzzards, dippers and herons). It is an idyllic world in which to lose yourself - both mentally and sometimes in reality.
“Sheltered, riverside peace - we really relaxed.” Reviewed 19 Oct 2014 We'd never stayed in this area before, and were surprised by its loveliness. This is a hidden gem in a beautiful, sheltered valley and we were lulled to sleep each night by the sound of the river running through the gorge below. The single-floor arrangement made the accommodation suitable both for the toddler and the older guests, whereas the sheltered balcony overlloking the river was great for teenagers to curl up and hang out. The cabin had plenty enough living-space to allow everyone to spread out and not get on top of each other. The well-insulated eco-design also meant that the house was constantly warm - I hate staying in chilly houses! The dining table comfortably sat all seven of us and the kitchen is full of big pans (although we didn't find a microwave, which would have been handy). I love eating as a big family and we've got hearty appetites, so this was great. Great for nature-lovers, with private woodland to explore and bird-life in abundance. It's also a really attractive place in which to stay, with a lot of characterful wood features and fabrics. Don't expect a huge TV and comprehensive Sky package - it ain't that kind of place.
“Comfortable accommodation in beautiful countryside” Reviewed 18 Feb 2014 We visited Roeburnscar for a long weekend with extended family including a granny and children from 2 to 15. The house looks like a cabin from outside but is very spacious and comfortable inside. It is all on one level, so great for the small children to run about. We had both the main house and the flat and a cot was provided. It was chilly on our arrival, but the wood burning stoves and heating soon had the place feeling cosy. We spent some time in the house due to bad weather. Just looking out at the river was pleasant enough, but there were lots of well-loved games and toys available so we passed the time easily. One of our days was sunny and we even sat out on the verandah. We enjoyed a couple of walks up the hill and into Wray (about 10 minutes) and visited Ingelborough Caves which were well worth the journey and walk. We ate mostly in the cottage. The kitchen felt very new and fresh and was well equipped (although a few more sets of cutlery would've been handy). The dining table sat our group of 9 comfortably and the children had space to play in the living room close by when they'd finished and we were still chatting! Beds were comfortable, bathrooms adequate, if a wee bit dated. The showers took a while to get going and the pressure was not fantastic but did the job. I think this is due to the eco-friendly heating system, and it didn't cause us a problem. Finally, the owners couldn't have been more helpful and responded quickly to all my queries before we arrived. A quick visit when we arrived was much appreciated. They were also flexible about arrival time. All in all, highly recommended for a chilled-out holiday.
“Charming retreat in fabulous location” Reviewed 11 Apr 2013 I stayed for a month in the lovely, spacious 1 bedroom 'flat' (more a little house in its own right) off the main cottage. Cosy and comfortable with lots of light and the most wonderful views from every window. Perched above the river, the cottage's big windows are great for spotting wildlife, including deer, pheasants, herons, ducks and squirrels. Wray is a lovely country village with an excellent tea rooms/restaurant/garden shop and a village post office/general store - both just a short stroll from the cottage. More energetic walks are also plentiful and fun. Further afield, Lancaster and Kirby Lonsdale are both interesting towns easily reached along country lanes with beautiful views. And, while you'd never know it, the M6 is within 15 minutes' drive so access to the Lake District, Liverpool, Manchester etc is easy. Jane is a great host and a font of local information. PS I've had a peep in the main house too, while it was vacant, and it is absolutely lovely.
“Lovely peacefull cottage” Reviewed 30 Mar 2013 This is a spacious cottage in a beautiful river valley with the best views from the patio at the back. The cottage has good eco credentials with wood burners and solar panels and is well equipped. The walks through the valley are lovely with plenty of wildlife (we saw deer) and very few people. This is an under-used area with plenty to offer those wanting a quiet holiday. The village of wray is a short walk and Bowland and the Yorkshire Dales are within easy reach. We all loved this place.
“Fantastic peaceful retreat” Reviewed 1 Feb 2013 A beautiful cabin, overlooking the river - we loved being out on the veranda, just admiring the view!! Lots of space - great for hide & seek for the kids!!
James January 2023 Everything as described. Everyone at the place made our trip enjoyable and we had a great time embracing the amazing outdoors scenery.
Jacky September 2022 We had an amazing long weekend. The cottage had everything we could wish for. The dogs loved going down to the stream. The local pub and tea room are lovely the food was gorgeous. We had some lovely walks. All in all a lovely relaxing stay. Thank you we will definitely be back.
Frances July 2022 We are a family of four and we had a fantastic holiday at Roeburnscar. It is so spacious, the beds are really cozy and it is full of great books and toys for the kids. The area is absolutely stunning and teeming with birds. We were there in the heatwave so we’re even able to go river swimming! It was just fab thanks so much Jane.
Sonya July 2022 A beautiful hideaway location in a wooded valley with the sound of the river accompanying you atall times. The house obviously has great history and is filled with books and pictures of interest. The accommodation suited us really well with two families and the veranda complete with sofas was perfect for listening to the birds, reading and eating our breakfast. The house is built on eco principles but has a history and authenticity that makes it feel very comfortable and welcoming. The table tennis table was great fun and we found a spot nearby on the river to take a brief if bracing dip. The local area has much to explore and we enjoyed climbing the Greatstone and Jubilee tower for stunning views.
Sarah December 2021 Welcomed on arrival and told we could check in and out a little earlier/later to give us more time at the property. Daily maintenance of the biofuel burner as this is a green property. The property is in a lovely place with great walks and scenery. It had everything we could possibly need and more. The whole family enjoyed this escape from urban living. Thank you Jane for a lovely stay!
Chelsea June 2021 A lovely, secluded getaway. Hard to find a better view or location! A perfect place for the whole family.
Thomas March 2020 Stayed here with family, had plenty space to offer, but lovely and cosy with a real fire in the lounge, all in a beautiful location right next to the river. Less than a ten minute walk into town with its tea room, pub and post office with everything you might need. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their stay!
Charlie September 2019 A truly lovely spot. The outlook of the rear of the house is very special indeed, with the trees and the river and the sounds that accompany them. Lots of enjoyable local walking with some spectacular views available without having to get in the car. The local village is charming and full of very friendly people providing great food and services at every possible opportunity. A little further afield, this homely home, so well hosted by Jane, is remarkably well placed for days out in the lakes and dales and is easily within reach of Lancaster and all it has to offer.
Graham August 2019 Excellent
Melanie March 2019 Jane's house is in the most lovely location; remote without being too far from everywhere else. The view from the back veranda is beautiful with the river flowing below. Inside has everything you could possibly wish for, with a very well equipped kitchen (I always appreciate good quality pans!!). Jane came around to offer assistance and any help we needed. Would highly recommend and we will look to stay here again.
Faye October 2018 An absolutely idyllic spot for a family weekend away. We loved exploring the surrounding area and the night time sky was incredible. The house itself was warm, clean and well equipped...a perfect peaceful retreat. Thank you once again for a special holiday, we would love to return!
Lesley October 2018 A thoughtfully appointed and artistic space set in a magical landscape. This place has soul - character and individuality rather than off-the-peg boutique sameness.
Michelle May 2018 This house is perfect for anyone wanting a peaceful and relaxing getaway!
Susannah February 2018 Beautiful secluded house, comfy beds, lovely kitchen and Lounge. Quite difficult to find so just be careful when approaching in Wray.

Peter November 2017 This place is amazing. A real cosy gem which is easy to get to but feels like the back of beyond. The setting is spectacular and the sound of the river was therapeutic. Richard October 2017 Superb location with great views of the river, comfortable eco-friendly accommodation, and friendly hosts.
Lucy August 2017 This is a great location, close to lots of places of interest, near to the village so you could walk to get milk etc. Lovely walks in the wood from the front door. We loved the veranda, great view of the river. River and birds made such a great sound track to relax to.

Sarah April 2017 What a wonderful place to stay! Perfect location for peace and quiet and for getting out in the fresh air and exploring the woods, fields and river. The cottage is homely and cosy with everything you need. We were surprised at how much room we had! We spent lots of time sitting in the sun on the veranda, watching birds and listening to the river running by in valley down below. Jane was a wonderful host and both her and her husband were friendly and accommodating and made sure we had everything we needed for a great stay. A perfect weekend.
Rachel September 2016 Directions there were spot on, amazingly peaceful getaway in a superb location to explore the area - both the Yorkshire dales and the lakes. Perfect for big groups and people who love the outdoors.
Deb September 2016 Absolutely loved the cottage. Amazing location, beautiful country decor and gorgeous river close by. Jane had thought of everything from wellies to maps. There was a fully stocked kitchen and the directions to the cottage were great. Highly recommend this place - what a wonderful stay!
Ellen August 2016 Roeburnscar is a perfect location for easy access to the Lake District and right on the doorstep of the beautiful Forest of Bowland. The views are stunning and we would gladly stay there again. The cottage comfortably housed us all, including two young children and a baby and we all had a fantastic time. Jane is a very thoughtful and considerate host who attended to all of our needs. Highly recommend!
Jen August 2016 Can't fault this residence. The house was so big, it had everything we needed and was set in beautiful surroundings. Jane was lovely and made sure we were settled in. She provided us with lots of info about the surrounding area and had left a lovely welcome pack for us. We also loved how environmentally concienous the house was. Roeburnscar was the perfect place to celebrate my 30th and we hope to be back again next year.
Clare June 2016 We had a lovely weekend at Roeburnscar, a very homely and warm place to relax by the fire. Had a beautiful walk in the forest on Saturday and wished we could have stayed longer, thanks Jane, sorry we didn't get to meet you this time X
Isobel May 2016 We were made to feel very welcome by Jane despite her not being able to be at the house to greet us during our stay. She made everything clear before we arrived in terms of checking in, what we needed to bring etc. There was also an information sheet in the house and Paul, Jane's neighbour, came round to see how we were doing. The house was spacious and cosy with everything we needed for a country break, including a well-equipped kitchen and a log fire with one bag of complimentary logs. The house is surrounded by beautiful scenery and you can take walks in the woodland and see lovely bluebells and trees, as well as exploring other nearby villages. The setting was very peaceful. I would definitely recommend this property!
Ben May 2016 Really great experience, lovely secluded cabin with a gorgeous stream running by outside and everything you could want. Jane was very welcoming and met us at the property, providing some good tips about the local area. Thanks for a really relaxing couple of days.
Kayleigh April 2016 We used the cottage as the base for the Yorkshire 3 peaks challenge - it was an excellent choice! Lovely and spacious cottage, really well kitted out and extremely peaceful. The hot showers were especially welcome after our hike! Our only disappointment was that we couldn't stay longer to explore the extensive grounds and relax by the fire. Would thoroughly recommend.
Sarah April 2016 A lovely peaceful setting for our weekend break with amazing weather as well! Jane was very friendly & made us welcome when we first arrived. The house was very spacious, very warm & cosy with plenty of room for all of us. Everything that you might need for your stay is there & the kitchen is amazingly well equipped! We had a lovely weekend & would love to return sometime.
Matt October 2015 Jane was lovely, very accommodating and phoned us the morning after we arrived (late) to make sure everything was ok. (Sorry about the stilted conversation Jane, I could barely hear you over the noise in the kitchen!). The cottage was very lovely, very cosy and very large. There's more than enough space for nine, both inside and out, and everything you need (cookware!) for nine is available. Jane has provided some great information about the area, we had intended to spend time in the Lakes but were pleasantly surprised by Arnside & Silverdale and Forest of Bowland. Thank you Jane, we all had a really great time.
Mark September 2015 Really lovely location. Jane very helpful. Would definitely like to visit again. :)
Sophie September 2015 Jane was friendly and welcoming. The cottage is in a lovely peaceful setting, ideal for getting away and being close to nature. The cottage is rustic and homely and large- we had more than enough space, thank you.
Kinga September 2015 We had a fantastic weekend in Yorkshire - we did the Yorkshire 3 peaks challenge and Jane's house was a perfect 30-35min picturesque drive to the start/finish. The house is huge, with 3 double bedrooms and a single, plus the additional 'flat' (it is more like a flat in a flat) that suits another 2 people. The kitchen was enormous with all the pots and mugs that you could ever wish for. A little river runs behind it which you can see from the never-ending porch and back garden and can hear ever so slightly during the night if you window is open - a perfect lullaby. Jane was a great host, the beds were just the most comfortable things, very clean and cozy house. It also had log stoves which can be used during colder days. This house is a hidden gem, great for groups of friends to come together, perfect for a hiking/cycling hub around Yorkshire. We will be back!.
Anonymous August 2013 We had a lovely and peaceful break at Roeburnscar. The owners were very accommodating and the area the cottage is in is beautiful. Thank you for a lovely stay
Homeaway Reviews Wonderful Christmas Break 5/5Stayed Dec 2015 clare o. A wonderfully cozy, comfortable and fully equipped holiday cottage! We spent Christmas 2015 on this lovely eco cottage, even with 11 of us there together we had plenty of space and could all fit around the dining room table for Christmas dinner. The owners put a beautiful, fully decorated, Christmas tree in the living room for us, we had everything we needed. The surrounding countryside was ideal for walks and runs through the lanes, we all loved it. Submitted 12 Jan 2016
Fabulous cottage and flat in a wonderful location 5/5Stayed Dec 2015 David B. Having not used this booking previously we were delighted to find that it was as good, if not better than, the description on the website. It turned out the most marvellous location for nine adults and two children to spend Christmas. Jane, our hostess, couldn't have been more welcoming and accommodating to our needs, which made our stay all the more enjoyable. The local village people were equally as friendly - in particular the village shop and the George & Dragon. Unfortunately, the village café was closed over the Christmas period. We would most definitely recommend this cottage and location to friends and acquaintances alike. Submitted 11 Jan 2016
A beautiful, tranquil cottage 5/5Stayed Dec 2015 Ruth B. We had a wonderful Christmas in the cottage with plenty of space for us all. The cottage was equipped with everything we could possibly need and the log burners made it very cosy. The views and surrounding area were delightful and the owners were very friendly and helpful. I'd thoroughly recommend staying there and hope to stay there again in the future. Submitted 10 Jan 2016
It was magical! We all had a truly wonderful time! 5/5Stayed Dec 2015 Sarah B. It was a relaxing holiday in a beautiful cottage.Stunning location too. My whole family came over for Christmas. My sisters live in California and Tuscany, but were truly awed by the beautiful location in Lancashire. A magical family Christmas! A big thank you to the owners who had decorated a huge Christmas tree and strung up fairy lights for our arrival. We all had such a lovely holiday. Submitted 10 Jan 2016
